Future vision
Our future vision is for Europe to become a progressive pillar of the world, countering nationalist tendencies towards isolation and resolutely advocating for a rules-based society with a social market economy and innovative free trade.
Future vision is an independent initiative for shaping Europe's future, greater prosperity and social cohesion.
Challenges for Europe
Changing world order
The global order is changing faster than ever due to digitalisation, AI, the rise of China, authoritarian developments, the Russia-Ukraine war and climate change.
Restricted competitiveness
Europe's GDP development is lagging behind the USA and China. Innovations are being implemented too slowly.
Social polarisation
Immigration, nationalism and isolation are destabilising society and leading to the rise of populist movements.
Objectives of the Initiative
Create new spaces for thinking
Develop innovative concepts for an active European future shaping through collaboration with universities, companies and other institutions.
Identify best practices
Collect successful approaches from various fields and examine their transferability to Europe in order to recognise potentials and opportunities.
Develop future proposals
Develop concrete recommendations for action to increase prosperity and social cohesion in Europe and make them publicly accessible.
Target Groups and Dissemination
Main Target Group
Younger people in training or at the beginning of their careers

Project Phases
Phase I: Problem Identification
Through workshops, seminars, and case studies at European universities, the problem areas of Europe are identified and factually described, including the underlying root causes. International experts bring together academic and practical perspectives.
Phase II: Study Trip
Business representatives, academics, and students visit selected "best practice" locations. On a twenty-five-day trip, transferable solutions are identified and examined with local experts for their adaptability to Europe.
Phase III: Dissemination of Results
The gained insights are made accessible to a broad public through various media (website, books, articles, seminars, lectures, podcasts) in a Best Practice Report.
Analyze
Identify relevant publications
Collection of existing analyses on the future of Europe
Critical evaluation
Review of findings for timeliness and relevance
Integration into own research
Linking with the results of the initiative
Development of new perspectives
Expansion of existing concepts
Important foundations for the work of the initiative are existing analyses on the future of Europe. Especially the Enrico Letta report and the Mario Draghi report provide valuable insights that will be incorporated into the development of the "Europe Agenda 2035".
Europe Agenda 2035
Identification of Key Reform Areas
Analysis of global developments and their impact on Europe in the coming years. Consideration of technological, economic, social and environmental factors.
Development of Concrete Recommendations

Creation of a Comprehensive Future Concept
Consolidation of individual measures into a coherent vision for a competitive, innovative and socially just Europe in 2035.
The "Europe Agenda 2035" will be the central outcome of the initiative. It will show the scope that Europe has for active future shaping and how this can be used to establish the continent as a progressive cornerstone of the world.
